HitMotion Reloaded early access launch

HitMotion:Reloaded launches in Early Access on Nov. 27th, watch the trailer here

With great joy, today we of New Technology Walkers are going to share new details about our upcoming game HitMotion: Reloaded! Do we want to start with the coolest of them all? Have a look at our official launch trailer!

I think our friends at MID Studio have made an amazing job in creating a short video that could make people curious about it… and you?

And if you got curious, let me share with you some details of our game. As you may have understood, this is a game about boxing. It won’t be a game where you fight against a human opponent, like in Creed, but one in which you punch abstract elements like BoxVR.

You will have to move around your room, and punch elements, trying to score the most points possible. To maximize your score, you will have to hit your targets using the right hand and the right punch type (jab, hook, uppercut), and you will have to be very fast. Some of these bots will also attack you, and you will have to dodge them: some of these attacking enemies will be the classical bars that will make you crouch, while others will be a bit more original.

We think that it is a right mix of training for the arms and the rest of the body to make you stay fit while having fun! It is like a boxing training disguised as a game. Do you want to watch a gameplay video to understand these concepts better? Naah, not today! I’ll keep it for the next days 😉

We hope people will use our game to have a healthier life!

We think our game is cool for various reasons, but the two that I always like to highlight are:

  • The game is in mixed reality. It exploits the front cameras of the Vive Focus+ to let you see your surroundings. This way you can play this game where you punch stuff without risking to punch the objects and people around you! Your monitor will be safe while playing HitMotion;
  • We designed this game from the ground-up for a standalone headset. Most of the fitness game that I can think about like Box VR or Viro Move are cool, but they are made to work with a frontal setting. You look at one direction, and enemies all come from that way. This is necessary because these game have been made for PC, where you have a cable that prevents you from rotating as you wish, and where many Oculus users have still a frontal setup. Since we made this game for a standalone headset, we designed it to make the users move all over the room. Think about something similar to what now Beat Games has made with Beat Saber 360.
The “Red Bolt” playing with great passion HitMotion in an exhibition in Nanchang

We already showcased this game at WCVRI in Nanchang, China, and more than 150 people have tried it, giving us very positive feedback, so we think it is time to release our game in the wild. And so it is with great excitement that I share with you that the official release date of HitMotion:Reloaded is November, 27th 2019. The only release platform will be Viveport M, and the game will be at the beginning available only for the Vive Focus Plus.

The game will be out in Early Access. We think HitMotion has great potential, but there is still a lot to iron out, and there are so many ways in which it can be expanded (adding new levels, adding new game modes, adding boxing lessons, etc…). We think the only way to do it properly is having the feedback of the community. So, please, buy our game and let us know your opinion about it, so that we know how we can improve it! We are very eager to hear your feedback.

Many many virtual friends of mine, after having read the news of the upcoming launch of the game, have made the same questions to me: “When will it launch on Steam?”, “When will it come to the Quest?”, “Why the Vive Focus Plus?”. Let me explain everything: we are starting with the Vive Focus Plus because we like this device and it is the only standalone headset letting us offering proper mixed reality. Furthermore, we found in HTC a very good partner for our game. When the game will feel good enough, in 2020, we will consider porting it to other platforms. We have not more details to share at the moment, but we will keep you all updated!

Feel free in the meantime to contact me and let me know what platforms you would like this game to be published in, so that we can understand better what to do in the future.

So, don’t forget: November, 27th, HitMotion on Viveport M! On that day, I will show you a gameplay video and I will tell you the price. In the meantime, it would be cool if you could follow the social media channels of the game!

I want to thank all the community for the support that is giving us these days! See you on the 27th!

Are you ready for the fitness battle?

The XR Week Peek (2024.03.26): Sony halts production of PSVR 2, Meta slashes the price of Quest 2, and more!

This has been the week of GDC and of the NVIDIA GTC, so we have a bit more pieces of news than the usual because there have been some interesting things announced there. Oh yes, also IEEE VR had its show. Actually, a lot of things happened for tech people in the US, which is […]

We need camera access to unleash the full potential of Mixed Reality

These days I’m carrying on some experiments with XR and other technologies. I had some wonderful ideas of Mixed Reality applications I would like to prototype, but most of them are impossible to do in this moment because of a decision that almost all VR/MR headset manufacturers have taken: preventing developers from accessing camera data.
